EV Battery Range
Range can vary depending on driving conditions, driving habits, payload, and other factors such as outside weather conditions, accessory and climate control use, and vehicle maintenance.
Ford F-150 Lightning
In regards to the F-150 Lightning, you have the choice between two battery pack options: a standard-range pack, and an extended-range pack. The standard-range pack has an EPA estimated range of 240 miles, while the extended-range pack has an EPA estimated range of 300 miles.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E also comes with two battery pack options: a standard-range pack, and an extended-range pack. The standard-range pack has an EPA estimated range of 224-247 miles (RWD vs AWD), while the extended-range pack has an EPA estimated range of 260-312 miles (RWD vs AWD).

How Charging Works
Ford makes charging incredibly easy. Whether you’re on the road, or charging at home, Ford has ensured the process is straightforward and user-friendly.
- Home Charging (Level 1 or Level 2):
- Level 1 Charging: The Lightning and the Mach-E comes with a standard Level 1 charging cable that you can plug into a standard household 120-volt outlet. This method is the slowest, and it might take a while to fully charge the battery. This method is recommended for owners who are charging overnight.
- Level 2 Charging: For faster charging at home, you can install a Level 2 charging station with a 240-volt outlet. This requires a professionally installed home charging station, but it significantly reduces charging time compared to the Level 1 charger. Jenkins and Wynne recommends Cale Burney with CB Electric (931-302-4149) for all your charging and electrical needs.
- Public Charging Stations
- The BlueOval Charge Network is the biggest EV charging network-with the most fast-charging stations- in North America! Many public charging stations are available in various locations, including shopping centers, parking lots, and along highways. Jenkins and Wynne also provides charging stations, located behind our children’s playground in between the Ford and Honda buildings. To plan your next charge, use your FordPass app to find stations, activate charging, and monitor your usage. You can even pay as you go and earn rewards along the way!
- DC Fast Charging
- The Ford Mach-E and Ford Lightning support DC fast charging, which is the fastest way to charge your vehicle. DC fast chargers can be found at certain public charging stations, allowing you to add significant range in a short amount of time. Use your FordPass app to find locations near you!
- FordPass Charging Network
- Ford has partnered with various charging networks to provide access to a broad network of public charging stations, to include Tesla. Through the FordPass app, you can locate and use compatible charging stations conveniently.
EV Battery Life Expectancy
The lifespan of an electric vehicle battery can depend on several factors, including the battery chemistry, usage patterns, driving conditions, and how well the vehicle is maintained. The average EV battery life expectancy is anywhere from 10 to 20 years!
In general, modern lithium-ion batteries are designed to have a long life and retain a significant portion of their capacity over time. Ford provides an 8 year or 100,000 mile warranty, whichever comes first, retaining a minimum 70% of its original capacity over that period.
Recommended Services
To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your EV, it’s crucial to adhere to recommended services and regular maintenance, even though oil changes are no longer a part of the equation.
An integral part of maintenance is the timely rotation of your tires every 5,000 miles. Jenkins and Wynne also recommends a multi-point inspection during the same visit. Our multi-point inspection includes a brake check (when performing a tire rotation), suspension check, fluid and filter check, undercarriage inspection, alignment check, front and rear light inspection, battery health check, and a cooling system check.
A brake service is less likely to be needed for electrical vehicles because EV’s tend to be easier on their braking system due to regenerative braking (recoups kinetic energy caused by braking that is then converted into electricity, extending your drive time before charging is necessary).
